From Father Ross…

There are times when we are tempted to think of ‘The Church’ as some entity out there, separate from ourselves. That’s easy enough to do when we commonly identify our particular ‘church’ with a specific building.

In fact, the Church is the community that gathers together with the common purpose of encouraging each other as we endeavour to follow the ways of Jesus in our particular time and place.

After a summer break from many of the things we do together as a community, we are again looking forward to being together again this fall. There are many opportunities for each of us to be nourished by the community and just as many opportunities for us to enrich others by our presence and participation.

As you read through the rest of this newsletter, full of the things we are planning together please be mindful that this community needs your presence – sometimes receiving, sometimes giving. We look forward to working together this year!

Kitchen Update
On Thursday, August 11th, a meeting was held to agree on how to proceed with the kitchen renovations. To ensure the necessary cash flow and to give time to resolve a couple of outstanding planning issues, it was agreed that the full renovation would be put off for the time being. However, we will be purchasing and installing the necessary equipment to have a completely functional kitchen by mid-September. This includes a new stove, new ventilation system, new dishwasher and new refrigerator.

We thank the GIFT Fund, the ACW, the Property Committee and Corporation for their roles in making this initiative possible.

If you have any questions regarding this project, please speak to Douglas Frosst.
