In the next few weeks we will celebrate together two significant occasions in the life of the Church: Pentecost Sunday (May 15) and Confirmation (June 5). One relates to the Church globally; the other has a local, even personal, focus.
Pentecost Sunday marks the gift of the Holy Spirit – the very presence of God that was in Jesus – to the group of people who had been his followers. With this assurance of God’s presence, what had been a fearful huddle protecting themselves and their memories was transformed. Their confidence and courage grew as they shared the amazing things they had learned from Jesus. A renewed energy was experienced and that little group spread hope around the world to become the church that we know today.
Confirmation is the sacrament by which we as individual Christians acknowledge that what was real and true for the first Christians is also real and true for us. God’s power continues to flow through us as we individually and together live out the life that Jesus has given to us.
So let us celebrate that which has ancient roots in our faith tradition; and let us celebrate all that we are called to be in this time and place. Who knows what miracle of transformation yet awaits our community because of God’s work in and through us.
By the Grace of God, The Venerable Nigel Shaw
will be consecrated as
Bishop for the Anglican Military Ordinariate

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the St. James Annual Spring Garage Sale. All the wonderful treasures you dropped off.
Everyone who gave a few hours or many hours to help set up and price. To those who helped sell all those treasures and those who made fabulous muffins and sold them out of the kitchen. A huge thank you to the person who stayed and helped to clean up but most of all to the folks who used their trucks to take away. Without them we would not be able to have a Garage Sale at all.

Jr Youth Retreat Pre-Event a Success!!!
The Diocesan Jr Youth Retreat Pre-Event held on April 30 at the Rideau Valley Wildlife Sanctuary was a huge success. The event was attended by almost 20 youth and adults!
At the event we made lots of new friends including the staff at the sanctuary and saw lots of baby animals being cared for until they are released back into the wild. Many thanks to our carpenter friend Adrian for pre-cutting and pre-drilling all the parts of the squirrel boxes we made. These boxes will allow the staff at the sanctuary to place young squirrels back into the wild safely as well as giving them a home. We can’t wait until the full Retreat which takes place at Epiphany Anglican Church (Ogilvie Rd) on June 4-5, 2016.

The youth will leave the retreat with new friends and new ideas on how to be stewards of God’s Creation in their own parishes and communities. On theSunday, parents and families are encouraged to join us for worship with Rev.
