Advent Concert by the Cathedral Choir of Men and Boys

The Christ Church Cathedral Ottawa Choir of Men and Boys performed their kick-off Christmas Concert at St James on Saturday, December 7th.  The conductor, Matthew Larkin, has built this choir into an ensemble of international repute over the last decade.  He received the 2012 Queen Elizabeth 11 Diamond Jubilee Medal to honour his musical contributions. The choir leveraged the beautiful acoustics of our church for a truly memorable concert.

Founded in 1896, the Choir of Men and Boys is one of the few remaining choirs of men and boys in North America, and the only such resident choir in a Canadian Anglican cathedral. Boy choristers come from throughout the National Capital region and beyond, and the counter-tenors, tenors, and basses (all of whom study or work in the city) are a professional counterpart to the boys’ voices.
