Each year all parishioners are invited to attend the meeting of Vestry, the ‘Annual General Meeting’ of the parish of Saint James. This meeting is important because it gives us an opportunity to see the bigger picture of the mission and ministry of Saint James’. Vestry is an opportunity to learn of and discuss the many ways that we try act as Christ’s followers in our changing culture and society.
Vestry’s functions include:
- approving year-end financial statements and next year’s budget, receiving reports of parish groups, electing parish officers;
- meeting annually, or more often if required;
- A vote is given to parishioners who actively support this congregation and are age 16+
- Special Vestries are called to authorize major decisions
