The St. James Craft Group is a friendly, informal group that enjoys supporting each other in fellowship. In addition, it creates a variety of handmade articles and gifts which contribute to the success of the Christmas Fayre.
The Craft Group meets weekly on Wednesdays from 10:00am to 3:00pm in Tomkins Hall.
Broccoli Soup Recipe – served at Christmas Fayre – November 2011 per request.
2 tbsp butter
2 cartons chicken broth (low sodium)
2 c. water
1 large onion
1 large potato (pealed & chopped)
3 bunches broccoli (peal stalks and separate florets)
½ cup Half and half or condensed milk (5%)
Salt and pepper to taste (Note: chicken broth contains salt)
Melt butter in saucepan, add onions, potatoes and broccoli stalks. Cook 3 minutes.
Add chicken broth and water and cook 20 minutes.
Add broccoli florets – cook 15 minutes more.
Blend until smooth and return to saucepan, add half and half adjust salt and pepper.
